Careers in Education

Graduates are employed in a number of settings. Below are just a few examples of the range of employment opportunities that are available.

Examples of Student Teaching Sites

  • Central Illinois: Bloomington, Pontiac, East Peoria
  • Western Chicago Suburbs: Naperville, Downer's Grove, Hinsdale
  • Other: Joliet, Plainfield, Lincoln-Way

Upon graduation, students are qualified to apply for Illinois certification and to teach in Illinois public and private schools. 

A second teaching area is recommended in a minor or endorsement content area. Students should refer to the undergraduate catalog (University-Wide Teacher Education section) for a listing of all programs available.
