Origination

The Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy (SMART) Clinic, while housed and operated by the School of Kinesiology and Recreation, was noted in the original proposal for consideration as a place “designed to provide a unique setting where clinicians, researchers and students could work together to offer students with the most advanced care for orthopedic injuries”.  The original contributors include:

  • Kevin Laudner, PhD, ATC, FACSM (Professor, Associate Director for the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology)
  • Jeff Wood, PhD (Professor, Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology)
  • Jean Swearingen, MD (Medical Director of Student Health Services)
  • Alan Lacy, PhD (Professor, Interim Director of the School of Kinesiology and Recreation and Associate Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology)
  • Todd McLoda, PhD, ATC (Professor, Associate Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology)
  • Dawn Sanner (Executive Director of Campus Recreation and Student Fitness Center)
