Plans of Study

Each KNR masters degree student is assigned a faculty advisor upon admission to his or her sequence. Under the faculty member's consultation, the student will complete a sequence-specific plan of study (otherwise known as a Degree Audit) outlining the courses the student will take during their program.

The basic 33 hour program is structured as follows: 

  • Research Core (6 hours)
    • KNR 497, Research Methods
    • KNR 445, Statistics
  • Sequence Studies (12-15 hours) 
  • Cognate Studies (3-9 hours)
  • Culminating Experience (3-6 hours)
    • KNR 499, Master's Thesis (6 hours) Click HERE to see sample KNR theses
    • KNR 400, Independent Study
    • KNR 498, Professional Practice

Except under unusual circumstances, a maximum of 9 hours of graduate credit may be transferred from another institution. Complete Transfer of Credit form which must be approved by your academic advisor and then submit to Barb Arbogast. Transferring of credits must be approved no later than semester prior to completion of degree audit. Advisement / Plan of Study Forms

Please use a Degree Audit Form (Word version) for your chosen sequence. You should complete the degree audit with your academic advisor who will then forward it to Barb Arbogast for processing 10 days prior to Graduate School deadline.
