You can apply for all majors in the School of Kinesiology and Recreation except Athletic Training each year in September and February. The application is located online and can be accessed via My Illinois State.
The application process for Athletic Training occurs during the fall semester. All students interested in pursuing Athletic Training must take KNR 188 and KNR 188.01 during the fall of their sophomore year (or first fall on campus for transfer students). In addition, KNR 181 or BSC 181 (Human Anatomy & Physiology) must be complete or in progress at the time of application. For more information on the criteria and standards used to admit students, please see the Athletic Training website.
No, Illinois State University does not have a major in any pre-professional area. Students planning on pursuing graduate programs need to select an undergraduate major and complete the pre-requisites for admission to their graduate/professional school of choice concurrently with their major requirements. For more information please contact the Pre-Professional Advisor.
Graduation occurs when you have completed all degree requirements. Degrees are conferred three times a year – December, May, and August. Your degree is conferred at the end of the session in which you take your last requirements, so if you complete your internship in the summer term you would be an August graduate.
Commencement is the cap and gown ceremony which is held twice a year in December and May. All December graduates can participate in the December ceremony, and all May and August graduates can participate in the May ceremony.
